Fishing | Beachaven TOP 10 Holiday Park

Waihi Beach is a fishing lover's dream. Waihi Beach hosts several boat ramps in addition to a dedicated fishing store. Bordering Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty, this is a great base for a fishing trip.

Anzac Bay

Anzac Bay is a great spot to take the whole family. Picturesque, calm water in the harbour with a toilet block and picnic tables makes this a great spot to spend a day. You can fish straight off the rocks or use the boat ramp. This spot can get busy, so is a great option for some night fishing. Additionally, Cave Bay is right around the corner. Accessible from the top carpark, Cave Bay is a steep descent but is usually free of large crowds and families. Only a 12-minute drive away, these are some great spots.

Kauri Point Wharf

Take a 20-minute drive from Beachaven Holiday Park to Kauri Point wharf for some great fishing. This wharf extends 200 metres out from shore, making it a highly popular fishing spot for tourists and locals alike. Kingfish, Snapper and John Dory are just some of the fish that can be caught in this spot.

Reel N Wave

Reel n Wave is a locally owned fishing/surf shop in the heart of Waihi Beach.

Surf boards, surfboard repairs, surf and streetwear, tackle, quality rod and reels (Shimano, Daiwa, Penn, Kilwell etc.), dive fills, rod and reel servicing, ocean kayaks and lots more

They also have a lovely range of clothing, swimwear, hats and jandals!

Fishing Waihi Beach

You don’t have to go far from our Holiday Park to find some great places to fish. A lot of people surf-cast from the main beach which is just 150m away from our park, also the rocks at the northern end of the beach. There is also a jetty at Anzac Bay Bowentown which is a 15 minute drive away. The boat ramp at the Bowentown Boat and Fishing Club provides great access to the inner harbour.
